Lynn Felton is an independent celebrant based in the Southeast

My journey as a celebrant began when a well-regarded Local Authority Registrar entrusted me with the honour of leading the funeral for her best friend. When I asked why she chose me, she replied, “because I know you will do a wonderful ceremony, and I can’t think of anyone better to treat her and the family with the care and respect they deserve.” I was deeply touched and honoured to be given the privilege of conducting this ceremony.

Sessional Registrar

Since 2016, I have served as a sessional registrar for an inner an inner London local authority, where I have conducted and registered thousands of legal Marriage and Civil Partnership ceremonies.  I have been incredibly lucky that this Borough actively encouraged their Registrars to think as celebrants and to always strive to work closely with couples to ensure their legal ceremony is special and unique to them.

Over the years I have received wonderful feedback from couples, and I am extremely proud of the work I have done.

Exhibitions

Before becoming a celebrant, I had a long career in the exhibition and event industry. I organised large international trade exhibitions, worked as an event manager at one of the country’s most prestigious venues, and eventually became a director at an employer’s trade association representing UK-based exhibition contractors.

This experience honed my people skills, requiring problem-solving, discretion, and diplomacy while dealing with people from all walks of life.

Foster Carer

My people skills were further utilised when I became a foster carer, specialising in the care of troubled teenagers. I have remained in contact with some of those in my care as they have moved into adulthood and parenthood.

Family & Friends

I have a close-knit family, with strong connections spanning four generations. I also have a long-standing friendship group that has endured for decades.

The core of these relationships is being there to support one another through the best and worst of times.

Pottery

Recently, I discovered a creative side I didn’t know I had.  For the first time in my life, I have a hobby that is now a passion – pottery.

It has become a way for me to decompress from the challenges of day-to-day life while producing something visually engaging.
